Another fabulous AROTR. What a great time. I loved the ultimate ticket to ride shows on the ballroom stage, great idea, and it's also nice that individual show can be purchased, while I bought the ticket to ride, other family members couldn't afford it and if there was one show they really wanted to see they could just pay for that show which was great.
As far as the bands, I loved the Band On The Run show, just wish I could've seen them more than once, how often do you get to hear Uncle Albert live? I had never seen Jukebox till this year, what a mistake, they absolutely rock, after catching their first show I wouldn't miss any of their shows for the rest of the weekend, they were really into the festival, what great enthusiasm, and great long guitar solos, I love all the Hamburg era stuff they did, speaking of which I saw British Export and they are so awesome, Sheik of Araby and Besame Mucho, are you kidding? what a treat, I love that Hamburg stuff. Sun Kings were a nice new addition and I love the Beatrips. What I love about the Beatrips (and Jukebox) you never know what you're going to get, they play the entire landscape. I can't wait till next year!

Hey thanks for the comments Hal! You can actually see me doing the Goodnight/PJ spectacle on You Tube. But I must say, kudos back at you Hal, the back bone of the two biggest concerts in the history of AROTR, the LOVE CD, and White LP. I hear your Maritime Beatle event was kick-butt good. Hey, you need a player for your 9 weeks stint out west? Maybe..........

Corbin Gregory - Knoxville, Tennessee, United States June 27, 2008 12:44pm
Didn't make it this year.(I'm working that out with self strumming therapy) I've been twice now.
Great Tallent, Beatle Fans are the Best.
See ya next Year. Corbin

Well, this was my 6th AROTR and again, the Best! Saw some old friends and made some new ones. 5 day of most everyone being ridulously nice to each other (just that makes it worth coming) , and the spectacular bands (who are so accessable and friendly also) makes this whole idea something so special. I'll be at my 7th and look to work in Canada next year somehow ! Crazy Malcolm from Boston and his lovely and patient wife Nikki and Moe and his babydoll mate Kelly made the weekend even better for one who always comes solo on purpose. Look forward to it all year. Andy and Mark of AYNIL, Peter Conrad, Stan Bullock, Jay - wow what great folks. And This year meeting Jim Martin, crazy wonderful dude. The performances were first rate, the weather fantastic and the KY folks terrific. Kudos to the Rock and Roll Mayor of Louisville !! Thanks to all and everyone! Gary, with what you do even you don't fully know what it means to us. You're the best! Keep the music and the goodness alive. Peace, Love and Handle with Care. RD

Hi everyone! The guys in the band look forward to seeing you all down in Scranton. But until then, here is some Beatle-related news:

Next month, Pete Best is slated for an uber-hip cameo appearance in a major motion picture - "The Rocker" - the story of an 80's rock drummer (played by Rainn Wilson of THE OFFICE...ironically set in Scranton!) who is kicked out of a hair metal band just before they make it as a world-wide phenomenon. Sound familiar?

Then he is asked to come out of retirement to play in his nephew's band at his high school prom. Mad cap antics and high jinx are sure to ensue.

It is set for nationwide release on July 30th. But there are a ton of free screening opps next week in selected cities. Go to the movie website: www.rockermovie.com and go into the 'downloads' sections. Scroll down and you wil see the selected cities. Also, trailers, ringtones, etc. Make sure and check ouy the "Photos" section - click 'next' three times and you'll see a picture of Pete & Rainn. It looks truly PRICELESS!!

Holy cow. Somehow you guys read my mind. A half-way point concert. I am impressed, and looking forward to it.

While I'm on here, I'd like to mention my Kentuckiana Beatles and Bob Dylan page (as in southern Indiana and Louisville metro area); would love to find some fans and have some get-togethers in between this half-way show and Abbey Road. Please visit myspace.com/positivelypennylane

Hi everyone. Just reflecting on AROTR, and I was thinking that there were so many high points of the whole thing, many many...but the one that stands out in my mind the most and keeps revisiting me was the finale of The White Album Show where Jim Martin came out in his jammies and did Goodnight...What a touching way to end off White. Pretty cool Jim...aces!!! I still think about it...no better way to end it!

Wow did I get hit in the head today. Yes it's Friday and I got a job for today and Saturday working at the Poultry Fesitval (the largest industry here on the shore) Yes there are great people and the rag time band was really good but it could never be Abbey Road On The River. Ok Ramona wasn't there and I couldn't dance because I had to pick up trash but there still wasn't the spark of love that is at Abbey Road. I think of everyone at least once a day and share our experiences every chance I get but even though there was a ferris wheel it still can't be the same feeling as AROTR. I'm not complaining I just want to once again say thank you to everyone and I am hugging everyone of you. See you in PA Ben

The 2008 AROTR event was a wonderful event that I hope will continue for years to come. My wife and daughter enjoyed all of the bands, but particularly THE RETURN, THE BEATRIPS, LUCY IN THE SKY, JUKEBOX, GAVIN, SUNKINGS AND SSG. Please try to bring back the REPEATLES if possible in 2009. Thanks to Gary and all of his staff for an incredible weekend.

I'd like to thank nicky and vicky for getting sharon and I to see this AROTR thing. ( which is what i was thinking at first) If not for these 3 people I never would've met the beatleburys and gotr to play drums with the loveburys. I wouldnt have won the "OH DARLING" contest and won that great guitar from big head guitars. It was a dream come true to be ther. I want to thank HAL Dunn and gary Jacob. I'll write more later. Joe

Some thanks and comments.
I have failed to thank the person for turning us on to AROTR over 3 years ago. That would be Craig Rouse (George)from 8 Days a Week. We saw them in Mason,(go this year, it's a great venue, and they are a great band) they ended up playing for a party in our backyard which was one of the most fun times we have ever had, good guys. Craig told us about AROTR, we went, and to say we are hooked is an understatement. Thanks Craig!!
Went to see The Trouble With Boys at kidsfest in Cinci. They were great!! Bring them back!
For next year, I talked to Andy from AYNIL, next year is also the 40th anniversary of The Who's Tommy. He got giddy when I said they should do it next year on Monday. Hint Hint Hint.
Also saw Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones tribute at the Fraze Pavillion in Dayton, they were excellent, Mick and Keith without wrinkles! A Rolling Stones tribute might be very well received. Their website is rollingstoneshow.com.
Also, Thanks Vanessa security guard, you are everyone's Lovely Rita meter Maid. Somebody write a song for Vanessa. I know some more junk will pop in my head so I'll shut up.
Peace, Love, Rock!!
Harold

Rob from Cincinnati, If you are going to see 8 Days, or the Apples, Or Savoy, e-mail me,since we are neighbors, we can hook up if you want. burchstang@yahoo.com.

We couldn't be happier that ATOTR is coming back to our fair city. We had a blast playing as we always do. It's really a thrill for a band that mostly plays bars, to take part in such a cool festival. This year, the crowd was treated to hear our 2 new members of the band. Barry King on guitar(who used to play with The Charlie Daniels Band, and with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox) and on keyboards a Louisville legend, Bob Ramsey. Bob has played with Leon Russell as well as many local bands.

Brender and Eddie - Cressona, United States June 16, 2008 12:32pm
Just agreeing with Mike and Cindy. Have to admit the nice weather does add to the "climate" of enjoyment. We looked "Here There and Everywhere" for you at AROTR. Maybe next year.

Stephanie Bourgeois - Beautiful Manchaug, Massachusetts, United States June 16, 2008 8:49am
I am amazed when I read the guestbook how much people have "come together" since the beginning of AROTR. We are all so blessed to be with each other for one weekend a year....to celebrate our love of music and one another. I never come down from this wonderful celebration. I have become a better person as a result of sharing so much joy and friendship with every one I encounter at AROTR...THANK YOU GARY JACOB!!!, especially for bringing back THE GREEK BEATS next year!!!! I knew it would happen....hence our Greek Flag displayed in our window every year at the Galt House!!! SAGAPO!!!!!!

mike & cindy - monroe, mich., United States June 14, 2008 3:17pm
Well... it's almost been three weeks so I thought it was time to make some observations. I usually wait this long because I tend to go through AROTR withdrawal. I have ever since attending the first AROTR in Cleveland. They just get better and better. Some thoughts regarding this year:
With the Galt and Belvedere, you can't have a better venue for the the greatest Beatle event in the U.S. After last year's concerns, it's comforting to know that we will be there next year.
The performers were once again outstanding and the addition of Pete Best was a major coup. (After all, how many people can say they spoke to and had their picture taken with a former Beatle?)
Again, we are so lucky to be blessed with so many groups who are devoted to the legecy of the world's greatest band. The likes of AYNIL, Instant Karma, The Rigbys, Mario, and others will always be loved and appreciated.
Terry Sylvester was a nice addition and the band that has backed such talented artists at various AROTR's, The Cryers, are one of the best bands around. Since first seeing them at AROTR, I have looked forward to seeing them every year. Unlike some musicians who do their gig and disappear, every band member of The Cryers are mingling with us Beatle junkies in the wee hours of the morning. They are great people with good hearts and live by their motto: "Love, Joy, Peace and Purpose Through Music". I would like to see them do just Beatle sets or even a set or two based on the Monday, Summer of Love. Please feel free to bring them back every year, regardless if they back a big star or not.
Speaking of Summer of Love, when it was initially announced, and being a total Beatle fanatic, I was skepticle but we attended the first one anyway. But WOW... this year's was no different! What an ending to a perfect weekend (thanks weather!). The Merry Pranksters are great (one set on Monday isn't enough). And... I swear, Kelven from Axis is Jimi Hendrix reincarnated. The Trouble with Boys... all I can say is LOOK OUT!!!! What talent and showmanship at such a young age!
Finally for Gary and crew... thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication. This event means so much to so many and without you it wouldn't happen.
To all of you reading this post, to steal a phrase from The Cryers...
Love, Joy, Peace and Purpose Through Music,
Mike & Cindy

P.S.
Hi Kelly and Tom... we miss you!

dave elliott - pittsburgh, United States June 13, 2008 2:07pm
Hey gang. Cool to hear about a Woodstock tribute next year. It might interest you to know that Scott from the Elliotts and Scott and Dave attented Woodstock. ( the original in 69 !!) He has some great stories about driving straight there from a gig in Northeast Pa. Maybe he'll share some stories next year!

Rob from Cincinnati - Cincinnati, OH, United States June 13, 2008 2:03pm
Excellent news about the Greek Beats. They are one of my favorites and Nick Markakis seems like a really great guy.

AROTR-It's getting better all of the time.

-rob

PS: I trust the New York tribute will be to the first one. I went to the second-not such a good time. It looked like the third was worse.

Rich D - Los Angeles,CA, United States June 13, 2008 10:34am
I think for me the highlights that stick are the truly emotional moments that make AROTR so much more than just a bunch of bands on a bunch of stages. They do not just organize a good schedule-they know how to make us feel the moment.

Like Gavin Pring walking onstage during Love and joining Jimmy Pou on Something. Like the video guy perfectly matching Hal Bruce and Paul on Yesterday, or when he spliced what seemed to be a 1,000 photos of The Beatles during the conclusion of Day In A Live. Wow! I was hallucinating. Or 400 people all singing OH ! Darlin together after 20 contestants gave us some of the coolest versions of it we have ever seen. Or Mario playing 2 moving pieces (In My Life, and Here, There, Everywhere) during the tributes to Neil Aspinall and the Louisville DJ who was killed in a car crash. Or this gorgeous girl dressed as Paul McCartney at the costume contest who turns out to be a Marine Captain who just got home from flying jets in Iraq. No, this Abbey Road thing is more than a concert. It's an annual touchstone that celebrates life.

Bill & Rhonda - Wrightsville, Ga., United States June 11, 2008 10:32pm
What a great AROTR 2008 was.
Opening Thursday the rooftop concert by our good friends The Beatrips. These guys is always amazing.
Hope our Japanese family will always come here to play.
The Return, our home state boys---great shows. Pete Best band, Jukebox, Beatleburys, Gavin, all of you are great.
So many bands this year. Everyone of them is so good. Hope to see all of you next year.
And Gary, thank for the best AROTR yet. I know it is a lot of hard work putting this together. You and all the crews
did a super super good job. Thanks a million for all the fun you have made possible for so many.
Can't wait until next year.

Rob from Cincinnati - Cincinnati, OH, United States June 11, 2008 6:09pm
Jen:

Thanks for the heads-up on Eight Days a Week. We think they put on a great show and I'm sure we'll catch them a couple of times this summer.

You made me think of the weird AROTR "six degrees of separation"-like coincidences in my life.

The Eight Days a Week drummer, Brian lives across the street from us. We didn't know he was in the band until we went to a show and saw someone familiar playing drums.

My son's drum teacher is the drummer in Savoy Truffle (Adam Wheeler). We didn't know this when we started lessons, but found our later. In fact, when he started lessons, we went to the wrong music store. Adam had an opening at the right time at the store we went to accidentally, so we went with him. It turns out that he is a great teacher, but we did end up there sort-of randomly.

My brother in law, Dave, is in the Elliots and Scott and Dave. He is the one who "turned us on" to the AROTR thing and we very much appreciate it.

Considering how few people we know and the fact that we didn't meet any of these people at AROTR, it is weird how many of the people we know have a relationship to AROTR.

Thanks, Gary, for another outstanding AROTR. I don't know how you continue to outdo yourself, but we sure appreciate all your hard work.

Great to see all my fav bands, especially British Export: Jim , a true entertainer and forever my favorite Ringo. JPL, Danny and Keefer, you are all amazing performers and people. I also have a new found love for AYNIL and SSG. The white album and LOVE shows were beyond great.

See you all next year!

Jen - Covington, Ky, United States June 11, 2008 12:07pm
HEY ROB from CINTI - 8 Days a Week will be near you in Mason Ohio at the end of June. If you let them know it's (close) yer birthday, they may get you on stage for Birthday from The White album. They usually do. I'd suggest the 4th but their calender shows them to be in Whitesburg, Ky?? on the 4th....Lucky Whitesburg! Check out their calender. They have a few outdoor events in Cinti beginning last week and running thru the month of June. www.eightdaysaweekband.com

That would sure be a good birthday present for me (my birthday is July 3). There are lots of Beatles bands and Beatles fans in the area so it certainly wouldn't be an unreasonable thing to consider. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

AROTR 2008 was absolutely awesome. Kicking off with the rooftop concert downtown on Thursday was a particularly nice touch. Kudos to all the bands and artists. Not a bad performance all weekend!

Thanks Gary and staff for bringing us this truly remarkable festival each year. It really is the event I mark my year by. I am stoked that next year has already been announced and I intend to give Bor of Morobe a run for his money on being the first to buy tickets! Also, cannot wait to hear about the new July 4 weekend addition for next year.

Sam - Kansas, United States June 10, 2008 12:33am
Sorry its taken so long to post. We just got back to Kansas and got settled in.
Just wanted to quickly say what a great time we had once again. Every year gets better and better. It never ceases to amaze me. The White album ROCKED. I just wish I could remember who sang what. Mom and I were trying to figure it out, but there was so much talent up there we have no idea. Anyone wanna help??
Awesome bands once again, the Sun Kings were a great addition. Lucy in the Sky rocked better than ever. And of course my best friend Jimmy Pou was magnificent and charming as ever. He made an already great festival super-fun and extra special for me and lots of others. Reconnecting with Jimmy was THE festival highlight. Love ya, Jimmy. John, Denny, Jane, Jackie, Kimberly,Rosa, miss you guys tons. Thanks so much for the great memories. Every year seeing your faces upon arrival reminds us of how much fun we are about to have. Gary you always come through for us, and this year is not exception. Can't wait for 2009!!

As usual this was the best AROTR EVER! As each has been in the 7 years we've attended. It's almost too much! We never see as much or as many bands as we want. Just one thing, if it's OK to ask........... we went from speculating about who would be added to the Hall of Fame to realizing it wasn't going to happen this year. Did we miss an anouncement or did anyone hear why?

I noticed that a lot of people have made positive remarks about the security guard at The Galt House on sunday, Vanessa Lockhart. I don't know how many had the chance to speak with her, but Vanessa was very competent and lovely person. I passed along positive vibes to her employer, The Moore Security Company in Louisville, because I thought she was deserving of that. In case anyone is inclined to do the same, here is the contact information. E-mail, info@mooresecurity.com . and website, http://www.mooresecurity.com/index.htm. I don't know if Vanessa was a Beatle fan before her stint at The Galt House , but she is certainly one now. She was so impressed with everyone and everything.
What a fabulous AROTR. I can't wait till next year. Heartfelt thanks to everyone.

Back to the daily grind, and I'm having a hard time believing it's all over. This year was my third trip to AROTR. It was beautiful, as usual. HUGE thanks to Gary for all your hard work and for dealing with me and my ticket-related-drama in the months leading up to the festival.

I'm thrilled that the dates for next year are confirmed already and that the reservations will be available for booking so soon. I plan to get mine the day they become available. Next year I'm going to bring my eight-year-old daughter. We can't wait.

WOWW!!! What a blast! I have played in Liverpool twice for Cavern Days and also Chicago, but I think ABROTR is by far the best Beatles themed fest I have ever attended or played in over twenty years of tribute work. The beautiful mood of Love, communal fellowship and fun is really strong there and something we all need right now.. The Apples had the time of their lives and wish to thank Gary Jacob for inviting us and highly commend his brilliant and creative approach to festival production. It takes a TRUE Beatle's fan to do what he does so well every year. His top notch staff; Janine, Ally and many more are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. We'd personally like to thank our Fan Club President; Lydia Krug and her Mom and Dad. Our manager; Pam Morgan. Our photographer Ashleigh Rist. Stage managers; Tom Peterson and Steve. Our Dear friends from the BBC; Linda, Lori and Tracy. Dave and Patti Seckers (from the old days!) We love you. Cleveland Carol and New York Michele, you are the fabbest! Thanks to our other tribband buddies. We'll see you all again next year. Cheers!

Grant - Louisville/Kentucky, United States June 4, 2008 9:39pm
My 2nd AROTR. Had a great time. Both "love" shows and the "White" show were awesome. A special compliment to scheduling. Starting Each day at 12:00 with Jimmy Pou, Band on the Run and Instant Karma was awesome, I even enjoyed Mugwumps on Monday. Being rewarded for coming out early is nice. Props to "Band on the Run" for fighting sound issues, and "Instant Karma" for staying true to the variety of John's work and doing the inside show Friday night without a drummer to make up for the rain outside.

The "AbbeyRoad Live" shows in the rain on Friday finishing the "Medleys" in the rain and the "MMT show" following "White" on Saturday night were great. People just do not realize how much talent is out there all weekend long.

Of course "All You Need Is Love" rocked everything they touched all weekend long.

Love the "Beatrips" & "Jukebox". "Lucy in the Sky" really stepped up their show in 2008. It is so nice to see that kind of growth. In 2007 those 3 bands hooked me with the Album covers and the German Lyrics. I cannot believe how much I missed compared to a 5 day event in 2008.

Lastly, My adopted family Julie, Sally and especially Stacy made it special on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night during "White" will live forever.

Beatles fans are the greatest. Friday at Love Peggy and her husband were great. Long live Paul.

I hope I can find a way to "Vegas" this year to see the "Love show". If I can put together the schedule I may sneak into the "Sunday show" at the "Woodlands". Otherwise, I'm locked into to AROTR Louisville in 2009.

I'm very excited about the early sale of the 2009 AROTR tickets. I plan to repeat my 2008 accomplishment of being the first person to buy tickets on-line. Rob from Cincinnati tried hard to beat me in 2008, but I prevailed in spite of his feeble attempts.

Maybe if we have enough early hotel reservations, we can get some additional rooms at Galt and displace some of the NA (Not Applicable?) conventioneers.

I've got to believe that we spend more money that the NAs(and are therefore more valuable to the city). We also travel farther than the NA's (you wouldn't believe the large number of plane changes required between Morobe City and Louisvile). Consequently, we deserve the most rooms.

It's been over a week since I got back from Louisville and I still miss it so much! This was my third time at AROTR. Every year we wonder how it could possibly be better the next year, and every year it surprises us. Thanks to everyone who puts on such an awesome event. Gary Jacob, thanks for all your hard work and thanks especially for not trying to trick us into thinking this was the last one! It sure takes a load off my mind. And thanks to the rest of the Jacobs and friends who are always so nice to us...Jason (even though you didn't put my name up on the big screen), Craig, Travis...and all the rest.

To the bands:
Thanks to all of you for keeping us dancing all day and all night! Your energy and enthusiasm is amazing!
To Jim "Ringo" Martin and his band of all stars...the show was fantastic! We love the midnight shows and yours was our favorite!

British Export. Jim, Danny, Lynch, and Keefer: you guys look good in leather I think you need more than one show next year!

I also loved AYNIL (Andy makes me smile every time!!), The Return, Gavin Pring, Drew Harrison, Instant Karma, the Jukebox, and all the rest!

I don't know if I can wait until 2009.
We need a ride to Canada! any takers? haha.

Love to everyone and thanks again!

From the Oh! Darlin singing contest; or why Abbey Road On The River is so fab, creative, original, fun, and cool!

We keep hearing some wanna bee promoters are planning to start, disrupt, or otherwise do their best to undue the good will AROTR has established in the Louisville market.

All of your love and comments make their bull crap worthwhile. We know they follow these postings. Not much else to do. By all means, let those who would inject themselves into our thing know,we are just fine, the way we are, and they should flip their hamburgers somewhere else.

I am soooo glad to hear that I get to experience AROTR in Louisville again in 2009!
I had a great time at AROTR! Everything was FAB! All the bands, the park, the hotel, the people, the weather, all the shows from noon until midnight, the late night sing-a-longs at the Galt
I am just a middle aged accountant, but at AROTR I am a 20 something hippie grovin to Beatle music and dancing my heart out in front of one stage after another. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!
By the way
For anyone who missed The Trouble With Boys band (we saw them when walking by to go to the Lawn stage and we had to stay for their entire show), they will be at Cincinnati Kidsfest at Sawyer Point at 12:30 Sunday Our 2 girls cannot wait to see them The girls got on their website www.thetroublewithboys.com and fell in love with the group after watching the video If your kids like the Jonas Brothers, they will love Trouble with Boys

Hey all,

Just thought I'd check in from New York to say how fabulous I thought Abbey Road was this year. Absolute bliss. Thanks to everyone who said hello or hung out - for making the weekend extra fantastic and, of course, all the wonderful bands.

Anyway shall have to be quick as my internet is ticking quickly away.

Love you all

This is Kelven (Jimi)from AXIS the Hendrix Tribute. What can I say except THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU TO Gary, Abbey Road on the River and people of Louisville that watched and cheered and cried and waved their "Freak Flags" through our set!!! I am blown away at the magnitude of this event!! It was a great, great pleasure to be asked back to perform at AROTR. Being a huge Beatles fan myself as well it all just felt right!! We had a blast!! Thanks to everyone that took pictures!! Thank you Mr. Lucky from Kentucky for shooting the footage for our set!! Thank you Michael Faunce, Rob from Cincinnati and Joe Campbell from the Vinyl Kings for the comments you put on our website. You guys have no idea how greatly we appreciate it!! Thanks to everyone we took pictures with backstage. The young lady who's afro was bigger than mine you are an angel. Thanks to Stephanie for taking pictures with us. Thank you to the musicians that took time to check us out. Hope we didn't disappoint!! Thank you DEBBIE!!! I cannot express enough my sincere thanks for the time you take to shoot photos of us and to put us on your website and being a fan in Louisville and Chicago!! I love you and hope to see you in Chi-town!! Lastly, thanks to Gary Jacob and the staff of AROTR. You guys treat people like royalty which enhances the vibe and makes it a privilege to perform at AROTR!! You guys do an incredible job with getting this together!! Great organizer, great staff, great people, great bands all made for memorable experience (excuse the pun)! It gave me no choice but to smash my guitar!! My only regret is this year we couldn't stay longer to check out the other acts because of time commitments and we didn't have enough posters to pass out. If any one wants to keep up with AXIS through the year go to our website: www.axis-jimihendrixtribute.com or email me directly at dysokel@yahoo.com Peace, Love and Happiness to you all..."scuse me while I kiss the sky!!

I just saw about a 2 minutes report on VH-1 about AROTR. There were small interviews with Gary and The Returns.
